Thanks to Matthew Daneman of the Democrat and Chronicle for the coverage of Howard Nielsen’s Silver Spoon Award!
Howard Nielsen, who started the former Pizza Station pizza chain and founded the two Sticky Lips barbeque restaurants, has received the Silver Spoon Award from the Rochester chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association.
According to the Association, the Silver Spoon goes to a restaurateur or food service operator who was not “born with a silver spoon, but earned the admiration and respect of his or her peers through hard work and dedication to the industry and community.”
The Irondequoit native started the Pizza Station in 1982, and renamed the chain to Chester Cab Pizza. He started Sticky Lips with its Culver Road location in 2004, and opened its Henrietta location in 2011.
