Sticky Lips BBQ is celebrating its 10th year serving hungry Rochesterians with the roll-out of three new menu items at both restaurant locations. Barbecue aficionados can enjoy the new “Tenth Year Anniversary Sandwiches”: the Buttered Brisket Sandwich and the tropical island flavour of the Howie Maui Wowie Sandwich. Also new is the “Mr. Wallace’s Fried Chicken” recipe.
THE BUTTERED BEEF BRISKET SANDWICH
- This slow hickory smoked juicy beef brisket is served on a grilled and buttered hard roll. It’s simple and tasty! Choose either of our new Texas BBQ thin sauces: All-American or Cherry Bomb. It enhances the meat’s flavor without covering it.
THE HOWIE MAUI WOWIE ISLAND SANDWICH
- Enjoy pulled pork shoulder, drenched in a mango infused BBQ sauce and drizzled with an island fruit chutney.
MR. WALLACE’S FRIED CHICKEN
- Our chef’s secret recipe. Crispy golden brown, a mix of dark and white meat. Served “traditional crispy” or “Birdland” style (smothered in sweet & sour sauce).
This year Sticky Lips also marked the opening of a new state-of-the-art catering/fundraiser kitchen, the first phase of improvements to the Culver Road location. Also ready to break ground will be the new “Sticky Lips City Music Hall,” which will include a full bar and live music.
The Sticky Lips story began on April 22, 2004, when the marquee read “I just spent my life savings, please eat my food.” After eleven months of renovation, the building at the corner of Culver and Atlantic was transformed. What was once an automobile showroom (and later Carvel’s Ice Cream) was now the two story STICKY LIPS PIT BBQ. Remembers owner Howard Nielsen, “People must have felt sorry for me. We had a line out the door and it hasn’t stopped since.”
Nielsen now owns the plaza at the corner at Atlantic and Culver, and plans are underway to create “A.C. Junction,” a dining and entertainment destination.
