[From upstate New York, Gordon Munding is an accomplished Blues & Roots musician. Back in the 70’sand 80’s, while he and his wife were raising six kids, and working full time in Rochester N.Y, he still managed to get hired often by promoter Jeff Springiut, to open for many touring artists, at Rochester’s Red Creek Inn. After meeting and opening for guitar gurus like Doc Watson and Richard Thompson, Gordon began to master the peidmont and Delta the styles.
Frank DeBlase, of Rochester’s City Newspaper describes Munding’s style as: “He dances across old National strings with red clay overtones in the swampy air. Crisscrossing with Appalachian, Bluegrass & Delta Blues, arising from the smoke of an impending collision” and in another article listed Munding as one his “favorite guitarists” in Rochester’s eclectic music scene.
In 2006 Gordon started a weekly tribute to Delta blues legend Son House (who was rediscovered living in Rochester N.Y. in the 60’s).
This jam continues today, almost 10 years later.
Gordon has opened for many national acts, including John Hammond & John Mooney. He has fronted local & regional bands, including Blue Delta, and most recently The Crawdiddies (www.thecrawdiddies.com)
He currently performs solo and teaches blues in workshops, festivals and schools.]
