Atomic Bomb Challenge in USA Today’s Spiciest Eating Challenges

usatoday4

USA Today’s Travel website is featuring the Sticky Lips BBQ Atomic Bomb Challenge in their article on America’s spiciest eating challenges.  Here’s what they have to say:

Both Sticky Lips Pit BBQ locations in Rochester, N.Y. offer the five-pound Atomic Bomb Challenge.

A one-pound double cheeseburger is topped with a pound of pulled pork, eight strips of bacon, a quarter-pound of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and a half-pound of spicy “Rochester hot sauce” (made with meat and chopped fresh habaneros), plus a pound of fries also topped with the hot sauce.

After signing a waiver, those who consume the multi-pound serving in under 30 minutes receive a T-shirt and get to see their name out front on the restaurant’s giant marquee; some view it as a rite of passage for college-aged men in the Rochester area.

Thanks to Eric Grossman and the USA Today for the fine press!
